MobileJawi 1.1

The MobileJawi application offers two keyboard options designed for typing in Jawi script. One keyboard provides Rumi-to-Jawi transliteration capabilities, allowing users to type in the familiar Latin script and have the application convert it automatically. The other serves as a native Jawi keyboard for direct input, enabling seamless integration with any iOS application without the need for copying and pasting.

The Rumi-to-Jawi keyboard employs an engine capable of transliterating Malay words entered in Rumi into Jawi script in real time. For instance, typing "saya" in Rumi yields ساي in Jawi characters, facilitating efficient and accurate transcription even for users unfamiliar with Jawi script.

The application enhances typing accuracy through predictive text features, suggesting possible word completions displayed alongside their Rumi and Jawi spellings. This dual presentation allows users to verify their selections confidently before insertion. Additionally, auto-correction ensures the transliteration process reflects intended words accurately. Selecting a suggested word inserts only the corresponding Jawi spelling into the active text field.

Following word selection, MobileJawi anticipates subsequent words by offering a list of suggestions, also presented in both scripts. This feature supports users in constructing sentences even if they are more comfortable reading Rumi spellings than Jawi characters.

MobileJawi is equipped to handle common Malay abbreviations and shortcuts. For example, typing "jln" will expand to "jalan" and display its Jawi equivalent in the suggestions list, streamlining the typing process.

In cases where words are outside the scope of automatic transliteration—such as foreign language terms—users can switch to the native Jawi keyboard to input the word directly. MobileJawi continues to display the Rumi spelling of these words below the Jawi input, maintaining clarity and ease of use.
